The latest season of Young Sheldon is putting the boy genius back at the center of its narratives. Sheldon's new personal arc explores the complicated business side of his invention, which frustrated him to the point of wanting to give up. This experience could explain why Sheldon is always guarded and never really opened himself up to potential friends on The Big Bang Theory. CBS may be using this narrative to justify Sheldon's meaner and ruder behavior in TBBT. It may take a while for TBBT version of Sheldon to appear on Young Sheldon, but a gradual transition for the character will be better than a rushed one.
